Year 11 Study Leave

After carefully looking at how the examinations fall this year and what we believe will most support pupils to achieve the best outcomes we have decided that Year 11 Study Leave will begin on Monday 13^th June 2016. Therefore normal lessons will continue up to the end of Term 5 and for the first school week of Term 6. On Monday 13^th June and after this day we will only expect Year 11 pupils to be in school for their examinations and associated examination preparation sessions.

Examination Preparation Sessions

Before every Year 11 examination there will be an Examination Preparation Session. During these sessions pupils will be provided with crucial last minute advice and guidance. Obviously all the required content needs to have been learnt previously through revision but these preparation sessions are excellent for reminding pupils of key points, do’s and don’ts, how to manage their time, which questions are compulsory, particular points that the examiners are looking for and so forth.

If the examination is in the morning then the examination preparation session will run from 8.30 am – 9.15 am. These sessions will take place in the faculty area. The proper examination will start at 9.30 am.

If the examination is in the afternoon then the examination preparation session will run from 1.00 pm-1.45 pm. These sessions will take place in the faculty area. The proper examination will start at 2.00 pm.

A few practicalities:

· Equipment – a black pen (calculator for Maths & Science)

· Mobile phones and smart watches are strictly prohibited and have to be surrendered

· Pupils will be in uniform for all examinations

· Punctuality is essential – You must be on time for your examination. This won’t be a problem if pupils have attended the Examination Preparation Session prior to the exam.

Celebration BBQ

It has become our tradition to have a celebratory BBQ following the last big examination when the whole year group is in school. This year, this will take place on Friday 17^th June following the Physics examination. If pupils bring a spare shirt with them then we are very happy for signing of shirts to take place at this event, however pupils will not be allowed to write on shirts that are being worn. We would welcome any donations from pupils of jumpers and ties that are in good condition so that we can support younger pupils when they are in need.

Results Day: Thursday 25^th August 2016

Results can be collected in the Atrium from 9.00 am.
