Message from Principal
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a restful and refreshing Easter holiday.
Now this may be a message that you are surprised to hear me say as the Principal with the Year 11s preparing in earnest for the upcoming exams. However, it is a message that I have always given to pupils as they embark on a school holiday: "don't work too hard", but I always go on to say "but don't do nothing." This is the key to successful preparation in the run up to the summer exams.
Pupils must plan their revision to ensure that they do an appropriate amount of revision, perhaps focussing on their first exams at the beginning, but also factoring in planned periods of rest and recuperation. We don't want under-prepared pupils, but equally we don't want over-stressed and fatigued pupils. Striking the balance is something that the recent Year 11 Revision Parent Evening focussed on. The resources that were handed out on the evening are available for everyone on the school website. Also on the website are the times of the subject revision evenings that are running weekly after school. I would urge you please to encourage your sons and daughters to attend these sessions and take advantage of the extra help and support staff are providing.
Sadly, we say goodbye to a long standing member of staff at the end of this term. Mr Gareth Thomas has been at KSA for 12 years and whilst I have only known him since January I am sorry to be losing an excellent Head of Year. However, Gareth goes on to a well deserved promotion and we wish him well in his new post.
You will also see in the newsletter some of the excellent work and achievements that our pupils continue to engage in. The Young Enterprise team were again successful in their recent competition, and by the time you read this newsletter we will have enjoyed a 'Live Lounge' of pupil musical performances and an evening of music from various famous musicals.
What an enjoyable way to end my first full term as the Principal of Kingswood!
Mr A Burton
